AASN Coach Wooden Tribute- Steve Jamison

Steve Jamison is a best-selling author and America’s preeminent authority on the leadership philosophy of UCLA’s legendary Coach John Wooden whose basketball dynasty won ten March Madness national championships.

For over a decade Mr. Wooden and Mr. Jamison have collaborated on projects including five best-selling books, an award-winning PBS television special,  WOODEN: Values, Victory, and Peace of Mind,and numerous personal appearances.

AASN Coach Wooden Tribute- Bill Bennett

Bill Bennett worked in collegiate sports information for 32 years (1974-2006) at four schools - his alma mater Nebraska, UNLV, Nebraska Wesleyan and UCLA. During his years in the UCLA Sports Information Office (1984-2006), Bennett worked with the UCLA men's basketball program, which included working with Coach Wooden on various projects and developing a friendship with the legendary coach. Bennett now works with special events/projects in the Bruin athletic department.

AASN Coach Wooden Tribute- Valorie Kondos Field

UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field has positioned her Bruins as one of the premier programs in collegiate gymnastics. Not only has she consistently recruited and coached some of the top talent in the world, but she has produced the results.

The Bruins won their first NCAA championship in 1997 under Kondos Field and won again in back-to-back seasons in both 2000-2001 and 2003-2004. UCLA has remained the Leader of the Pac under her tenure, winning 10 Pac-10 Conference titles, to go along with 13 NCAA Regional titles.

Kondos Field emphasizes a team concept, but her student-athletes have also found individual success, winning 22 NCAA individual titles during her years as head coach, including 19 in the last 11 years. Click here for full bio.

AASN Coach Wooden Tribute- Lorenzo Romar

With eight years of leading the Husky basketball team under his belt, Lorenzo Romar has earned the distinction as the Pac-10 Conference's longest tenured coach. In his time at Washington, Romar has lifted the Huskies to an elite level and unprecedented success. Romar will continue roaming the Huskies' sidelines and building on that success for the forseeable future after signing a 10-year contract extension in April.

In 2009-10, Romar led the Huskies to another historic season. Washington won its second Pac-10 Tournament Championship, made its fifth NCAA Tournament appearance and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the third time under Romar. Despite their No. 11 seeding, the Huskies beat No. 5 seed Marquette and No. 4 New Mexico before losing to the No. 2 seed West Virginia.

The Huskies ended 2010 with a 26-10 record putting Romar in elite coaching company. He joins Hec Edmundson as the only UW coach to lead a team to four seasons with 25 or more wins. The charismatic coach can own the distinction as the first UW coach with five seasons of 25-plus wins, but it will take another strong performance from his squad to reach that height.
